David Benioff was born in Rostov, Russia to Isaac Benioff and Anne Terkelman.
He came to the US in 1887 as an infant and was naturalized (thru his father) in 1908.
In 1900, he was 13 and living and working on the farm in Viola, Delaware with his parents, Isaac and Ida and his siblings: George, Bertha, Ida, Fred, Clara and Herman. He could read and write and speak English.
In 1905 at the age of 18 he was in San Francisco, working as a clerk in the store of his half brother, Alexander L. Benioff at “Alexander L Benioff – furs and skins” . They both lived at 118 Grant Ave.
David and Edythe “Lulu” Deiche were married on March 11, 1918 in NYC. In February they had an engagement party at her parents home at 250 Riverside Drive in Manhattan.
In 1920, David and Edythe were living in San Francisco with their infant son Robert, at 80 Divisidero.
He opened “David Benioff Bros.” fur store in San Francisco, in ?.
He was president of the San Francisco Fashion Industries (Manufacturers and Wholesalers Assoc.) trade group of the northern California apparel industry.
